2019 PSAC EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Jarey Elder, West Chester,...West Chester senior Jarey Elder was selected as Defensive Athlete of the Year. It marks the third consecutive season that a Golden Ram has received the honor and 10th in school history. Behind Elder's strong play, West Chester is allowing the second fewest points per game (16.8) in the PSAC. The senior has accumulated 54 total tackles and three interceptions. He has registered a pass breakup in eight contests. Elder and the Golden Rams earned a postseason berth and will travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) for a first-round contest Saturday, Nov. 23 at 12 p.m. - Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Football

OCT 28 PSAC EASTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jarey Elder, West Chester (Sr./FS), Allentown, Pa./Parkland,...Elder registered six tackles, five solo, and returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown to lead West Chester to a 28-21 win over East Stroudsburg Saturday. Elder finished with two passes defensed, including the pick-six. That interception came in the second quarter with the Golden Rams trailing 10-0 and looking extremely flat on offense. His defensive score was the wake-up call West Chester needed to get on the board and come from behind to take the lead before halftime. - Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Football

SEPT 23 PSAC EASTERN DIVISION SPECIAL TEAMS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: George Lambritsios, West Chester (Jr./P), Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown,...Lambritsios averaged 49.8 yards per punt on four punts, including a 63-yarder that was downed inside the 1-yard line and led to a safety on the very first offensive play by Seton Hill. Three of his four punts went over 50 yards and each of those were inside the 20-yard line. Following his four punts, SHU's starting drives were at the 14-, 1-, 15- and 2-yard lines. None of those four drives got further than the SHU 42-yard line and two of them didn't even get outside the Griffins' own 10-yard line. - Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Football

The West Chester Golden Rams have been tabbed the favorite to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Football Eastern Division following the preseason poll as selected by the league's head coaches, the league office announced Monday. For the second consecutive season, West Chester claimed six first-place votes. The Golden Rams won their league-leading 19th PSAC title last season while boasting a 10-1 record. West Chester senior Jarey Elder will pace the defense after finishing third last season in NCAA DII with seven interceptions.

Coach Bill Zwaan's squad boasted the highest-scoring offense in the PSAC with 38.3 points per contest last year while the defense was lights out by allowing a league-low 16.5 points per game. West Chester has not lost more than one conference game in a single season since 2012. Overall, 13 starters will return for the Golden Rams. - PSAC Football
